The Daughters operate under three levels:
International, State, and Local. The
International Circle is the main governing
body. Representatives from all circles meet
every two years to elect the International
officers who form the Administrative Board.
The State Circles also come
together every two years to elect officers
and to implement programs and projects
according to the laws and rules of the
Constitution. The Local Circles meet
monthly for a business meeting and some
circle combine the meeting with a social
gathering. There are presently 25 local
circles in Maine.
The Maine State Circle and Local
Circles are strong supporters of Respect
Life projects. Recognizing the shortage of
priests, many circles support the
seminarians from the Diocese of Portland
through prayers, encouraging cards, and
monetary donations. The youth benefit from
the Daughters’ help and support with their
projects and all come to understand that
there is no generation gap when we work
together for a common goal.
The communities recognize the
influence the Daughters of Isabella have in
the many projects they initiate to help
those in need. Finally, the Daughters
sponsor and support spiritual programs in
their parishes.
Women who come together in a
spirit of Unity, Friendship, and
Charity have the pleasure of enjoying
each other’s company while reaching out to
those in need. |
